The YCB Head of Region for South Yorkshire, Gareth Davis, last night conducted a seminar for clubs by video conference, to explain what financial and other support is available to them in the current circumstances, and to provide a general update on other issues connected with the current situation.

The full presentation can be accessed here, but the key points from the session were:

ECB have provided a holding statement asking for the patience of clubs whilst they discuss with Government the implications of the recent statement on activities connected with recreational cricket
Sport England grants are being paused from midnight on 14 May; we will advise when the application process is reopened
it is important that clubs assess their future financial situations, particularly around the potential impact of no cricket being played this season – any club that think they may have significant problems should contact Gareth, who will help them access whatever support may be available
ECB ACO are utilising the opportunity of providing free online training for anyone interested in umpiring or scoring (see presentation)– we would really appreciate clubs’ help in promoting these to potential officials
YCB will be conducting a three-question survey of coaches to seek their views on training needs and what support they feel would be useful to them
ECB has negotiated new game-wide insurance with Howdens for clubs and leagues at very competitive rates, and encourage clubs and leagues to take advantage
clubs are encouraged to keep engaged with members, parents, sponsors and any other interested parties during the period whilst there is no play
it is most unlikely that schools will contract any coaching in 2020, but YCB would really appreciate it if coaches, who are able to do so, contact local schools with a view to helping when guidance allows

The YSPL would like to thank Gareth for all the excellent work he is doing to support our clubs at this very difficult time.
