The League's under 23s side had a convincing win over an MCC XI in their annual fixture at Abbeydale Park yesterday.
Batting first, MCC were soon in trouble against opening bowlers Ben Cliffe and Robert Heyes, who took two wickets each to reduce the MCC to 16-4. Skipper James Moorhouse, one of five Whitley Hall players in the MCC side, then added 29 for the fifth wicket with Nicholson, but once Matty Taylor had dismissed Moorhouse, the innings quickly crumbled and the last three wickets fell at 73. Both Matty Taylor and Nathan Taylor also took two wickets each, and Alex Grimes had four victimes behind the stumps with two catches and two stumpings.
Andre Bradford led the YSPL side to victory with an unbeaten 43 in 57 balls, with good support from Jack Riley and Oliver Blackburn, and the under 23s cantered to victory with nine wickets and more than 20 overs to spare.
