A very well done to Sheffield Collegiate CC, who today convincingly beat national t20 champions Hanging Heaton in the regional final of the Vitality club national t20 competition .
Hanging Heaton batted first and from 23-3 in the seventh over reached 174-7, thanks to Callum Geldart (62), Ishmael Dawood (44) and David Stiff (48 not out off 19 balls including six sixes). Collegiate's best bowler was Henry Eldred with 3-33 off his four overs.
After seven overs of their reply, Collegiate were 63-4, of which Harry McNeilly had made 38. Jamie Carrington (70 not out off 31 balls with seven sixes) and Henry Eldred (26) then came together in a match-winning fifth-wicket partnership of 97. Collegiate passed their target with five wickets and 17 balls to spare.
Sheffield Collegiate now play in the national finals at the Racecourse Ground, Derby, on Sunday 22nd September, when the other three finalists will be Cranleigh CC (Surrey), Swardeston CC (Norwich) and Toft CC (Cheshire).
We wish them all the very best of luck in their quest to bring the trophy back to South Yorkshire!
