It is with great regret and a heavy heart that I have decided to stand down as chairman of the Yorkshire South Premier League, with immediate effect.
It has been a great six years since we started the planning process for our league, back in 2014, and a lot of hard work has gone into its inception and establishment. We have a great committee of dedicated and knowledgeable cricket people, and it has been a privilege to work with them.
As we move into a merger with the South Yorkshire Senior Cricket League, I believe that we are in a good place, and that relationships between the leagues have never been better. I remain convinced that the merger is the right way forward, and that it will be a success.
Matt Summerhill will take over as our chairman for the remainder of the League year, and I have told him that I will support him and the league in any way that I can, now and in the future. At our level, cricket cannot run without volunteers, and I will continue in any non-official capacity the league wishes.
In the meantime, I would like to thank all those who have supported me over the last six years – without them, we would not be where we are today. I look forward to seeing you all on the cricket grounds of South Yorkshire in the future.
