Getting involved

There is a place for everyone in cricket – of all ages and sexes – whether as a player or a volunteer.
Playing
Our clubs, and those in our partner league, the South Yorkshire Senior Cricket League, are always on the look-out for players – whether young people wanting to start playing the game, women, or men’s senior players.
Our clubs have different options for all players – from All Stars, an eight-week programme for girls and boys aged between five and eight, or youth age group cricket for players from nine upwards; womens’ soft ball cricket tournaments or competitive teams; or senior cricket at all levels ranging from experienced players to those who may not have played since schooldays.
Volunteering
Cricket clubs depend on volunteers. There are administrative roles, such as secretarial, social media, and fundraising; umpiring and scoring; helping out on the ground, maintaining premises, running the bar and helping with teas. There is a very wide range of work to be done and often not enough people to do it.
Our clubs are not just cricket clubs either – some are home to other sports and their clubhouses are community hubs.

Perhaps you are recently retired and looking for something to do, or have just a couple of hours a week you could spare – there are many ways in which you might be able to put your abilities to good use. Our clubs would be delighted to hear from you.
